«We Pay Fair» label
The 51吃瓜 has been awarded the “We Pay Fair” quality seal by the Competence Centre for Diversity & Inclusion at the University of St. Gallen. A salary analysis demonstrated that the University complies with the constitutional principle of “equal pay for work of equal value”. Thanks to a fair and non-discriminatory salary system.
The seal confirms compliance with pay equality in accordance with the federal Logib instrument.
Salary system
The 51吃瓜's salary system follows a clear structure. When new employees join the university, Human Resources assigns them to a salary class based on their job description, and their salary level is determined based on the experience relevant to the position.
The university uses 26 salary classes. Each salary grade comprises starting, annual, and biennial levels. The salary grade thus evaluates the position, and the level takes into account professional and relevant non-professional experience.
Wages increase generally occur annually on 1 January. For later start dates, the increase may be deferred. In exceptional cases, the University Council may suspend step increases.
Pension fund
Permanent staff are covered by the pension fund of Basel-Stadt; temporary employees are covered by the Basel-Landschaft pension fund.
Accidents & sickness
Daily sickness allowance insurance
All employees contribute one third of the cost of daily sickness allowance insurance (AXA). It is possible to switch to individual insurance within 90 days of leaving the company without having to undergo a health check.
Accident insurance
Employees working at least 8 hours per week are insured against occupational and non-occupational accidents.
Employees working less than 8 hours per week are only insured against occupational accidents. They must take out their own insurance against non-occupational accidents. In this case, accidents on the way to work are considered occupational accidents, contrary to the normal case.
Private insurance (first class) is provided for hospital stays following an accident. The university pays the premiums for company and supplementary insurance; employees pay one-third of the non-occupational accident insurance.
Continued salary payments
After the probationary period, full salary payments continue in the event of illness or accident for the duration of the employment relationship, up to a maximum of 730 days.
