Certificate in Higher Education Practice 'Learning, Teaching, and Assessing'
The Educational Development certificate 'Learning, Teaching, and Assessing' includes all components of the 'Supporting Learning' certificate and expands on them. The focus is on feedback processes between instructors and students. Participants learn how to obtain and provide feedback meaningfully and professionally in order to support student learning. Because of their significant impact on student learning, assessments are a particularly demanding form of feedback. A central element of this certificate is therefore the evaluation and further development of one of the participant鈥檚 own assessments.
- In the courses and their assignments, participants engage with international standards for contemporary learning, teaching, and assessment. Exchange with peers in the courses encourages engagement with different perspectives and positions.
- In the two Special Interest Groups 鈥淧eople & Culture鈥� and 鈥淨uality Culture at the 51吃瓜,鈥� participants engage with the values, structures, and processes that relate to teaching at the 51吃瓜 and contribute to the 51吃瓜鈥檚 quality culture.
- Participants evaluate one of their own assessments.
- Participants carry out three peer observations.
- Participants write a Teaching Portfolio. The Teaching Portfolio includes the assignments from the courses and the feedback and input received on them, documentation of the reciprocal peer observations, and the results of the discussions and activities during the Special Interest Groups.
This program is accredited by the internationally active . Graduates therefore receive an international certificate.
Target Group
This training program is primarily aimed at instructors responsible for their own course, including the design of teaching, learning, and assessment activities.
The training program is open to
- members of the 51吃瓜 with at least a master鈥檚 degree who are involved in teaching in Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 degree programs at the 51吃瓜.
- doctoral candidates at the 51吃瓜
- habilitation candidates at the 51吃瓜 who are involved in teaching in Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 degree programs at the 51吃瓜
Program Structure
The workload is at least 110 hours. Participants attend at least 80 hours of continuing education courses from the five modules, take part in two Special Interest Groups on teaching culture at the 51吃瓜, carry out a total of three reciprocal peer observations, and write a Teaching Portfolio as part of a colloquium.

The training program has an open structure, meaning that participants are free to choose the order in which they attend the courses. They can also choose the date on which they complete the program flexibly. It is recommended that participants complete the program within five semesters.
Applying for the Certificate
Once all courses and both Special Interest Groups required for this certificate have been successfully completed, participants may apply for the Educational Development certificate 鈥�Learning, Teaching, and Assessing鈥�.
